Janai Jessee
My name is Janai Jessee, and I’m a sports and portrait photographer & videographer currently finishing my senior year as a Creative Advertising student at San José State University. I specialize in capturing authentic moments, emotion, and energy—whether that’s on the sidelines of a live game or through intentional portrait work.
I currently work as a Live Social Contributor for the NHL, producing real-time photo and video content in fast-paced professional sports environments. I’m also a Creative Photography Assistant for San José State University Athletics, where I create action, portrait, and behind-the-scenes content for Division I programs across multiple sports. My work supports live social coverage, recruiting, marketing campaigns, and digital storytelling.
My creative journey began in high school at The King’s Academy, where I first picked up a camera and discovered my passion for blending sports with storytelling. Since then, I’ve contributed to creative teams at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, including work with SJSU Athletics, the San Francisco 49ers, the NHL, and summer baseball organizations. Along the way, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how visual media connects athletes, teams, and fans.
I bring a strong visual eye, collaborative mindset, and professional approach to every project. Whether I’m working under tight deadlines on game day or crafting thoughtful edits in post-production, my focus is always on telling meaningful stories through visuals.
